Sarah Catherine “Sally” Gibson(Hughes) Mason : April 19,1938-October 18, 2023 We, the family of the late Sally Mason, are saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, October 18 in the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital at the age of 85. Sally, of Coalburn, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Sally was born in Thorburn, Pictou County to Agnes and James MacLean. In 1959, Sally married her sweetheart Warren. They were together for 63 years until his passing in 2021. For a short time she worked for a lawyer in Truro before she returned to Coalburn to raise her family. Sally was an active member in her community. She was a leader of CGIT; AMS; Home and School for Thorburn. She was Noble Grand of Dorcas Rebekah Lodge being a member for 59 years and serving as Secretary until her death. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church. Sally is survived by her children, Lorene Anderson, Coalburn; Michael (Vye), Middle Sackville; Lisa, Coalburn; daughter-in-law Terri, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Dr. Graham (Elisa), Brooklyn, New York; Eric (Jessica), Eastern Passage; Chad Jardine, Halifax; Ashley (Adam) Rogers, MacLellan’s Mountain; Travis Smeltzer and Rylee Forsyth, MacLellan’s Brook; great grandmother to Oskar and Elma; Edith; Jenna and Alicia; Sadie and Theo; Ellis and Ivan; siblings, Margaret (Peggy) Stewart, Westville; Jimmie (Beth) MacLean, Greenwood; Bell (Louie) Fraser, Coalburn; Debbie Cress, Greenwood; and brother-in-law, Jimmie Grice, Park Falls; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Sally was predeceased by husband Warren Mason Sr., infant children, Laurence and Laura; son, Warren, Jr.; son-in-law, Fred Anderson; parents, Agnes and James MacLean; sister, Jo-Anne Grice; great granddaughter, Brynn Rogers. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday in the H W Angus Funeral Home, 256 King St., New Glasgow. Funeral services will take place 2pm Saturday from Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, with John Reeves presiding. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery following the service. Dorcas Rebekah Lodge #42 will meet at 6:45pm Friday at the funeral home to conduct their service. Family flowers only please.
