Hubert Joseph Francis September 15, 1943 - September 27, 2023 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Hubert Joseph Francis of Pictou Landing, who departed this world on September 27, 2023, at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Hubert was born on September 15, 1943, in New Glasgow to his devoted parents, Martin and Bridget Ann Francis (Knockwood), both of Pictou Landing. Hubert is survived by his beloved wife, Yvonne Francis, and his children: Shawn Sr. Francis, Ryan Francis (Jillian), Arvin Knockwood (Logan), and daughter Ashley Francis (RJ). He also leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren: Austin, Shawn Jr., Hazley, Drax, Quill, Fiona, Wade, Orion, and Maximus. Maternal Uncle: Roderick Knockwood. Hubert will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Martin and Bridget Ann Francis (Knockwood), and his dear siblings Herman, Joan, Frankie, Barbara, Theresa and Mary Agnus. A true "jack of all trades," Hubert embarked on a diverse journey in his life. He pursued his passion for auto mechanics, attending ITT in Massachusetts where he resided for many years, and later gained employment in numerous shops, becoming a skilled auto mechanic. His journey continued into the world of carpentry, where he honed skills acquired from various odd jobs and secured a temporary position as a carpentry worker. Hubert's unique sense of humor, marked by wit and charm, endeared him to all who knew him. He found joy in making others laugh, turning even the mundane into moments of levity. His love for traveling, particularly on the powwow trail, became a cherished part of his life. He was a regular at the Wolf Den and will be greatly missed by dear friends he often accompanied. As a residential school survivor, Hubert expressed his wish for cremation rather than a traditional burial. His wake will be held at H.W. Angus Funeral Home on Sunday, October 1st, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A celebration of life dinner will take place at the PLFN school on Monday, October 2nd, at 3 pm. Hubert Joseph Francis will be remembered for his diverse talents, dedication, and, above all, his unique sense of humor that brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him.
