Robert Hugh “Bobby” MacDonald
May 13, 1933 September 3, 2023
It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Robert Hugh MacDonald, 90, of MacLellans Brook, who passed away on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023.
Born in New Glasgow and living most of his life in MacLellans Brook, he was the son of the late William Sweet and Catherine Elizabeth (MacLeod) MacDonald. Bobby retired at the age of 71 from a long career as an independent truck owner/operator for over 32 years. The majority of that time was spent with Warren Paving and Weeks Construction. Bobby also spent many winters working for the Department of Highways running grators keeping the country roads clear of ice and snow.
In his younger years, Bobby could be found any day on a golf course or in a coffee shop with his close buddies. Above all Bobby enjoyed time with good friends and family, garnished with a nice tumbler of wiskey. He loved his Toronto Blue Jays and never gave up on his Maple Leafs.
Bobby will be sorely missed by his wife Mary “Minnie” (Thompson) MacDonald and his children: David (Joanne) MacDonald, Scott MacDonald and Cathy MacDonald - Nock (Graham) along with six grandchildren: Grace, Ally, Annie, Brock, Olivia and Bridget.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Arthur (Delphine) MacDonald.
His family wishes to thank the Pictou County VON homecare team for the excellent care he received over the last few years along with Elizabeth Greene who was an invaluable friend and caregiver.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 9 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Castle Hill Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local SPCA or to a charity of choice.
