Obituary of Dorothy Lillian Hoare

Hoare, Dorothy (formerly Fogarty, nee Boutilier) passed into the loving arms of God in the early hours of 6 July, 2023. Dorothy is survived by her sister Ina Thompson (Jim) and brother Lester (d.jean). She was predeceased by her parents Dean and Lillian (Field)Boutilier, a sister Betty Lou Mills, husbands; Douglas Hoare and John Fogarty. With John, she has eleven children: John (Donna), Frederick, D. 2021, (Lori), Reginald, d. 2019, Howard (Marilyn), David (Thelma), William, Robert, Joseph, d.2021, Alan, Catherine and Patricia, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was an exceptionally kind and endlessly caring soul who never knew malice. Her generosity exceeded reason which stood clearly as a testimony to her Christian beliefs. With effortless grace she shared her love for humanity and nature by who she was with others and how she respected the world. Dorothy was an exceptionally hard-working and loving woman well into her 80s. She was cunningly resourceful, creative and kind to all. An excellent cook and baker, seamstress, knitter, card player and lover of music of all genres, she was steadfast and honest soul, loved by all who met her. In her last years and especially through the pandemic, she often prayed for a better world for all; that peace and love would prevail. May her prayers soon be answered. The family wishes to thank the cardinals, bishops, priests and brother Jesuits from around the world who have so kindly offered Mass and Prayers for Mum’s repose and to the caring staff of the Glen Haven Manor who took such good care of our mother and the compassionate staff at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by her son Fr. Alan Fogarty, SJ, at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton at 11am Wednesday July 12, 2023.
