Barry,
Thank you for our lunch dates, for your visits at work and for always keeping a smile on your face. I will miss hearing your stories, watching you light up when talking about teaching and just having my friend around. I miss seeing that Blue Jays jacket enter my store cause I knew that I was gonna have a good day if I did. Thank you for being a friend Barry. Rest Peacefully.

My sincere condolences for Barry’s passing. He was inspirational in his optimism, his energy, and his passion for teacher professional development in Egypt. Here are some comments from former students on the American International College Master of International Education alumni group in Facebook.

So sorry to hear about Dr Barey's passing. He taught me different modules in my Master's degree program. His way of teaching was unique teaching us from his heart not from books. I never forgot him one day I didn't do well in my presentation and wasn’t satisfied with my performance so I left directly and didn't continue the day. He asked my colleagues about me and the next day he came to me during the break and supported me a lot to continue and take it as a learning opportunity. He was a rock for all of us during our learning journey. May your soul rest in peace, Dr Barey. You will never be forgotten.

Very sorry to hear of Barry's passing. I spent part of my growing-up years on Rutherford St, in the Red Row, as next-door neighbour to Barry's parents, Bob and Josie. They were great people and neighbours. Many fond memories come to mind every time I think about those years.
My condolences to all the family at this sad time, especially Barry's brother John, who was my friend (along with Chubby, the dog) in "the other end" of our home.
God Bless.

Barry was my teacher in Grade 7 and 8, and he was a wonderful teacher. He was involved in orchestrating an after school athletic program that included anyone that wanted to participate, athletic or not. I remember cross country races and a walk- a-thon to Pictou that would never have happened if Barry hadn’t volunteered his time and gone above and beyond, giving up his weekends for a bunch of kids. This kid now 64 will always be grateful for the time and energy he gave to all of us. I’m so sorry I never took the opportunity to tell him in person.

To Barry’s family, I was very saddened to hear of Barry’s passing, my sincere compassion & condolences in your loss. Barry was a teacher in hometown Trenton and certainly a favourite to many. It was always a pleasure running into Barry in my adult years for conversation & just simple catch up on life in general. Barry had such a pleasant personality, handsome grin, & calming demeanour; thinking of you all in your sadness.
