Alice Margaret Livingstone
1940 – 2023
The family of Alice Margaret Livingstone are saddened to announce her peaceful passing on April 29, 2023 at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born November 28, 1940 in Sydney, Nova Scotia to the late John A. and Nina (Lovett) Cameron. She grew up in Baddeck, Cape Breton, a place she loved dearly and would often make many trips back home to visit family and friends.
Mom was very proud to be among the first few graduating classes of the Personal Care Workers course at Glen Haven Manor in 1981. She enjoyed working there for many years.
Mom always loved a good book, a good puzzle, and a good cup of black tea (along with her ciggie). In her later years many hours were spent on knitting, crocheting, and solving the daily newspaper cryptoquip puzzle. She always loved having visits and outings with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Being a devoted fan of Coronation Street, we knew there was an unwritten rule, don’t call Mom when her show was on. Many phone calls were held though between her and her sister Kay to discuss the latest Corry episode and the shenanigans of the goings on.
She will be dearly missed and is survived by her children, Janet (John) Hill, Robbie (Ann) Livingstone, Sandy Livingstone, and Barbie (Serge) Beland, daughter-in-law Rebecca Livingstone and son-in-law Kenny Sheaves. Also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica and Cody, Raylene and Darcy, Alex, AJ and Delaney, Robbie, Michelle, and Danny, Matthew and June, Adam, Jenna and Samantha. Several great grandchildren. Beloved sister Kay Maloney.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert “Big Bob”, son Wayne, daughter Judy sheaves, daughter-in-law Cindy and grandson Ricky; sister Joan Roberts and brothers Reid, Richard, Sandy, Hugh and Winston.
Many Thanks to the staff of Glen Haven Manor for their care and compassion for Mom and also thank-you to Dr. Gregor MacLean for the great care of Mom for many years before going to the manor.
Cremation shas taken place. As per Alice’s wishes there will be no visitation and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
