James McLean Johnstone Obituary

James McLean Johnstone age 91 of New Glasgow passed away on April 7th, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Cross Roads Country Harbour, he was a son of the late Alex and Thirza (Smith) Johnstone.

James served with the RCAF for 20 years from 1951-1971 retiring with rank Sergeant retired CD, SSM. He then went on to work at the Sunny Brae Tool Handle Factory after retiring from the RCAF.

Surviving are his wife the former Bessie (Clark), a daughter Janet (Campbell) MacPhee, grandchildren Julie Ann MacPhee, Michael MacPhee, Deborah Clark and Rebecca Clark, great grandchildren Grace MacPhee and Sarah MacPhee, son-in -law Peter Clark, also a number of nieces and nephews.

James was predeceased by his daughter Linda Clark, a sister Elsie Fanning, brothers Chalmers, Albert, George and Lewis.

Cremation has taken place, a graveside service will be held in the Sunny Brae Cemetery at a later date.

Donations in memory of James may be made to the Sunny Brae Cemetery or to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
