Obituary of Andrew Douglas Ross

Andrew Douglas “Doug” Ross, age 84 of New Glasgow, formerly of Riverton, passed away on March 13, 2023 at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Charles Alvin and Ellen D. (MacKay) Ross. Doug moved back to Riverton in March of 2000 after retiring. He worked for the Hudson Bay Company for 27 years and then for the last 13 years of his working career was with the Northwest Company. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge for over 60 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Stellarton. Doug is survived by nephews Kent (Ann) MacDougall, Rob MacDougall; 3 great-nieces, and a great-nephew. He is also survived by his extended family, Bill and Marie Fraser, and their children Tracey Fraser (Yuri Power), Lynn (Glenn) Fraser, Susan (Matthew) Rogers and Pam (Robbie) Francis and their families. Doug very much appreciated the way that the Frasers made him part of their lives, and was truly grateful for their life-long friendship. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Marie; infant daughter Peggy Lee in 1967; sister Sandra MacDougall and brother-in-law Rand MacDougall. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 18 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel, 256 King St., New Glasgow with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Riverton Cemetery. Family flowers only, if desired donations may be made in his memory to the Riverton Cemetery. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
