Many years ago I was on a trip to Venezuela with two friends. We met a mother who was there with her daughter and friend and told her we were from Nova Scotia. A day later she came back and explained that other Nova Scotians wanted to meet us. We went to their hotel room and lo and behold it was Rusty, Chiz and Doug. What a surprise it was! Rusty and Doug were near neighbours living nine miles from where I grew up. They invited us to go to the nearest town for supper in an old station wagon they had rented. A couple of us sat in the rear of the car facing backwards (pre-mandatory seatbelts) laughing and giggling as the cars behind were so close. We ate at a lovely French restaurant. We were all “ foodies”( before it was a thing) eating baby octopus, drinking wine, laughing and taking pictures.Doug paid for the whole dinner. We had so much fun that night! Doug was such a gentleman and I was so happy to have had this opportunity to enjoy a nice evening with Doug, Chiz, and Rusty.
Condolences to Chiz and the family and to the Campbell family. May God give you comfort and peace.

Q: What will you never forget about Laurence?
A: My Dad Neil & Dougie's Dad Laurence were logging and personal friends. Dad & I were visiting the Campbell's one Saturday when Doug came in with his shiny pale yellow Cadillac convertible with what I thought that were wings over the tail lights; He sit a dirty little boy on his lap and let him steer his Caddie all the way around the Garden Church School Loop and back. Hooked on cars! Then worked for Doug while a Scott Paper summer student. Then brief chats about familes when home from Alberta. My deepest condolences to the Campbell Family. James (Jimmie) Clyburne
