My condolences to the family. Dr Cameron was a great and amazing doctor. My parents started going to Dr Cameron when their previous doctor retired and he delivered my sister, my brother and me all at the old Halifax infirmary when it had a maternity ward. He then went on to deliver my oldest son at the old grace maternity hospital. We had a good laugh when I had my second child and when I was in the hospital in labor the hospital kept calling the wrong Dr Cameron so he missed delivering him. I've often thought about him over the hoped he was doing alright because doctors these days don't want ro take the time anymore. We're more like a number on,a piece of paper.

Thank you for sharing Dr. Cameron with our family. He was extraordinary. We are grateful for the care he provided to our parents, and to us ‘kids’. He had an easy, genuine bedside manner. It was our natural assumption that he was part of our family. He helped change our trajectory. It is lovely to read about the man behind the white lab coat and those memorable, and wonderfully curated waiting rooms.

Dr. Cameron (Al) became our family Doctor in the late 60's when he set up practice on Bayer's Road. I was a teenager and thought he was so very nice and young.
My Mother and his Mother had sat together in Grade 1 in Pictou County many years earlier so a bound was made immediately! Because of this connection we got invited to his Annual Christmas party when he lived on or near North St. So impressive for a teenage - the decorations and a full turkey dinner to an overflowing house of guests!
When I left for Toronto he gave me the name of a fellow Med School pal whom I still go to. Thank you Al!
He always made time for each of his patients and treated my Mother as if she was his! She always referred to those lovely brown eyes. He even came to the Funeral home when she passed. Thank you Dr. Al; I will remember you always.

Dr. Al was our family physician for many years. He came into our lives just as our family was starting. Andrew was our first and he's 46 now so it's been a long association. Always kind, always caring, always with a joke or a laugh. The kids loved him and wished they had him as their doctor long after he left practice. I still remember those busy days and Dr. Al's calm assurance that I wasn't crazy, these kids were sick. And then he took care of them and us too. My fondest memory was a time when all 3 kids had some kind of "bug", all were miserable, and so was I. My husband took the 3 of them to see Dr Al and after caring for them he asked where was I. Informed that I was home sick, he prescribed some antibiotics for me because obviously, I was really sick if I didn't come with the kids. He was so right. Always missed our little chats.

Dr Cameron ( I always called him that even though we worked together for 20 yrs ... if he minded he was graceful enough not to complain ) was my mentor , friend , colleague , and always true blue whether you were a patient , a relative , an acquaintance or artist .
He always saw the best in people and I never saw him annoyed at anyone despite the abundant opportunities that life in family practice could provide . He always approached life with great humor and that beautiful laugh he had . He was never boastful despite his medical , musical and artistic accomplishments . He was so generous .... whether it was quietly providing money to someone in need or buying very thoughtful and often exquisite gifts at Christmas for staff . Mills Brothers comes to mind . When you got a gift from Dr Cameron it was always special and well executed because good taste and generosity went hand in hand to him . He was impeccably dressed in the office showing respect for his patients in every manner . I loved him like so many others and I am very sad I lost my friend . Sincere condolences to his family and his daughter Allyson . Dr Michele Maclean

Dear Allyson, When I read your Father had passed away my heart was filled with a kind of sadness. Strangely, that Saturday I had come across a locket he had Michel make for Sarah and I thought of him and had a few smiles and chuckles. What a laugh he had and so generous with it. Here is a picture of the kind and gentle friend I had. I have thought so much of him these past few days. It was my privilege to have his friendship, and to be allowed a look into a life that was so full and alive. I cannot imagine the loss you feel. Please accept my most sincere sympathies. Eleanor

Albert had a great history with us. My mother babysat his daughter when he was in university. Partly this made it easy to become his patients. He was always ready to listen and he helped with a number of issues. He always had time for his patients, If you had to wait longer than you expected you knew that when your turn came you would have his total attention. The last time I saw him, a number of years ago, we exchanged a
big hug. A wonderful friend, a wonderful doctor, a
wonderful person. Thank you, Albert! Derek and Vange Johnston

I met Al (as we then called him) in the late 1960's. He was in the same Dal Med class as my roommate Dr Arlene Merchant. He was frequently in & out of our house, when we lived on Cambridge Street. When they graduated, Arlene & Al set up a medical practice in Bayers Road Shopping Centre. He was a "chef extraordinaire", because I've been treated to gourmet suppers. I also remember the Cameron brothers, probably during Graduation week, singing heartily around the piano! Sadly, Arlene died of Huntington's disease in 2002 at age 56. I am sending deep felt condolences to family members on behalf of us both.
Coincidentally, I worked with Dr. Michelle MacLean's mother Peggy, when I moved home to Mabou & started teaching there, in 1975.

My Father, Miller Edward Tibbetts, was close to his Aunts family. Nana and Aunt Muriel spent so much time together and as a result when I was younger we were at Aunt Muriel's home out playing with all the kids, most older then me ,but were kind.
From myself, Shirley Joyce (Tibbetts) on behalf of Miller Tibbetts family, condolences to all the Cameron's. I know he and Dad were close and are now having a chat again.

Dr. Cameron was the doctor who coached my mother as I was born into this world. He served as our family doctor and truly, a friend, until his retirement from his family practice at Fairview Medical Clinic. I remember feeling so very sad to be losing him as our family doctor some 20 years ago. Dr. Cameron was an extraordinary, kind, smart and insightful doctor who knew not only the science but the art of medicine. As a young pianist myself, I was always honoured to see Dr. Cameron show up at my recitals and concerts as my musical career progressed. I will be forever indebted to him for his kind, therapeutic approach as I struggled with a mental health issue, seemingly out of nowhere in my teenage years - long before it was "ok" to talk about mental health. He kept me going. He was a gem of a man. My only regret is that I lost touch with him after he retired. I would love to have met him later in life to share my appreciation (and a few stories) with him. To his family and close friends, my parents and I join you in celebrating a beautiful life lived. Sincerely, Cynthia (Scammell) Stilwell

Sixty plus years and the time just flew. We laughed, we cried, be baked and cooked, did preserves and so much more. We took piano lessons from Dean Bradshaw and had the audience chuckling at the recital with our antics. I'm going to miss my dearest friend and confidant.

Dr. Cameron, my doctor from birth and our family doctor until he retired. One of the nicest people I have ever met.
He truly cared about his patients and you could never see him with him asking about how everyone else in the family was doing.
My condolences to his family and all who had the pleasure to call him their doctor.

Dr, Cameron, what a guy. The family Dr from start to finish at Fairview Medical for my parents, two brothers my daughter and me. He was a dear friend. We had meals with him, drank a bit of wine and much laughter. He visited my home and my brother and I were invited to his many times. He was a great family Doctor. I was fortunate to meet him on Alderney Drive a couple of years ago and we shared some memories and a few laughs.
Thanks to his family for sharing some of your memories of him.

"Dr. Cameron" was our family's GP - since birth for me, until his retirement. He was kind, caring, and always had a smart remark to make each of us laugh. Even in his "retirement" he took time to attend my parents 35th anniversary gathering. Al as I was fortunate to call him in my later years, will never know how instrumental he was in supporting not only my family over the years, but helping guide me through my teens, as I came to terms with who I was and coming out to my family. You truly deserved every positive moment you experienced in life and then some for the many people you influenced in such an amazing way. Thank you.
