Obituary of Allan Fulton Canning

Canning, Allan Fulton - It is with absolute heart break that we announce the death our dad, Allan Fulton Canning, 70 on Feb 9, 2023, with his loved ones by his side, after a brief cancer battle. Allan was the son of the late Chesley and Doreen (MacKay) Canning of Stellarton. Although Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good game of darts, his favorite pastime was to drive the back roads for hours with his father and Wayne, whom were his best friends, and his special friend Eileen. Dad held many jobs, but his love of the road always lead him back to taxi driving, where he made many friends and always had funny stories to share about his adventures. Dad was a proud lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion, most recently with Branch #34, where he enjoyed a good chat and his dry humor, with his buddy Matt. He will be sadly missed by his children Tara, Tanya (Shaun), Vanessa (Andrew), John Allan (Jolene) and Chad, as well as by his grandchildren Alyssa, Tessa (Mitchell), Emma, Sara (Logan), Brooke, Zoe, Kale, Zackary, Kaden, Zain and Grandpuppy Abby Jane. Allan will also be greatly missed by his sisters Valerie (Doug), Donna (Dale) and several nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents Chesley and Doreen, sister Debra and niece Crystal. We would like to thank the amazing nurses in the Aberdeen palliative care unit for everything they did to make our dads stay as comfortable as possible. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Monday from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the summer. Family flowers only please.
