Obituary of Donna May Hughes

Hughes, Donna May, 75 of Stellarton- It is with great sadness we had to say goodbye to the most amazing woman I know, Donna May Hughes who passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on January 31, 2023. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late George and Mabel (MacPhee) Hughes. Mom was my rock, my courage, my teacher, my best friend. She was an amazing mom and grandmother to her only grandchild Avery. Mom was a hairdresser for over 50 years, travelling to many homes cutting hair for seniors and brightening their days. After she retired, she was quite content spending time with her daughter, granddaughter and her special friends, Sandra Meisner and Marie Wallace. Left to grieve her loss is her daughter Kimberly (Trevor), Westville; her granddaughter Avery Stewart, brothers; Victor Hughes(Heather), Sackville; David Hughes (Judy), Stellarton; an aunt Kathleen Sutherland, Riverton. Donna is predeceased by her parents George and Mabel(MacPhee)Hughes and the love of her life Bo Linthorne. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Saturday at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton from where a memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday with John Thomas Linthorne presiding. Burial of ashes will take place in the Elgin Cemetery at a later date. Mom will be missed by many, but is dancing with dad again, whom she missed dearly. Until we meet again Mom, we will be ok.
