Marion Julia Cooley age 88, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow formerly of Thorburn passed away on Jan. 10, 2023 in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn she was a daughter of the late Hugh T. and Julia (Gossin) MacDonald.
Marion was a resident of Thorburn all her life before moving to Glen Haven Manor. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. Marion enjoyed going for Sunday drives, loved to knit and in her early years enjoyed camping and the outdoors. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her children James (Nadine), Plymouth; Greg (Isabel), Greenwood; Ray (Lorraine), Abercrombie, Doug (Lynn), Thorburn; Kathy Cooley (Vernon Palmer), Pleasant Valley; Mike (Joan), Thorburn; Julie (Ken) Upham, North River; 12 grandchildren, James, Dennis, Stephen, Brad, Trevor, Shawna, Jamie, Heather, Jeff, Devon, Shana and Tyler; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Charlotte “Honey” Rhyno, New Glasgow; special niece Betty (Simon) Fraser, Thorburn.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles, brothers Raymond T. (Annabelle) MacDonald and Alex T. MacDonald.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 at 2 pm in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with John Reeves officiating. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the Thorburn Fire Department.
