Obituary of Jeanette Rogers

Mary “Jeanette” Rogers, age 88, Coalburn, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Sherbrooke, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Carroll.
She was a faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Thorburn, until its closing and then joined Holy Name Catholic Church, Westville until her passing. She served as a member of St. Ann’s CWL and then became a member of Holy Names CWL. She received her Maple Leaf Service Pin while at St. Ann’s and also her 50th Year of Service Pin in 2022.
She loved crafting of all kinds and was a member of Nova Scotia Rug Hooking Guild. She enjoyed putting the old puzzles together and was well known in the community as a wonderful cook and baker. She was an avid gardener, spending many hours in her gardens on her beautiful property. She also planted a large vegetable garden every year always offering fresh produce to her family and members of her community. She loved picking berries of all kinds and was well known for her delicious strawberry jam. In her early years she was a devoted hockey mom, loved dancing with her sweetheart any chance she got.
Jeanette’s lifelong passion was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling to Alberta to visit her only daughter Debbie and her children as well as going to many destinations with them. She possessed the gift of hospitality and her door was always open to share laughter, good food and great card games.
Surviving are her sons Brian (Trudy), Dennis (Judith), Ian (Sherry), Ritchie (Stephanie); her only daughter Debbie Sehn; daughter in law Annie (Tim) Garrison; brother Leon Carroll; sister Connie Salter; brother-in-law Gerry Rogers; sisters-in-laws Mary Carroll and Irene Carroll; grandchildren Matthew Sehn, Nicole (Blake) Sehn, Amanda (Matt) Leblanc, Donald (Marcy) Fraser, Jenny Rogers, Sherry (Joey) Rogers-Polley, Adam (Ashley) Rogers, Chad (Lauren) Rogers, Brook (Cassidy) Rogers, Brittney (Taylor) Rogers, Amber Rogers, Brett Rogers; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Frank William Rogers, son George Edward Rogers; granddaughter Danielle Marion Rogers, great-granddaughter Brynn Elizabeth; son-in-law Brian George Sehn; sisters Betty Wadden; brother Teddy Carroll.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Westville on Friday, Jan. 6 at 11 am with father Colin Mackinnon presiding. Burial will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Jeanette may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit or Chalice International in Bedford.
Special thanks to the amazing caring nurses in the Palliative Care Unit and to Dr. Kwasnik and a big thank-you to all who have given Jeanette such wonderful care and compassion throughout her journey.
