Q: How would you describe Henry to someone who had never met them?
A: Henry was a kind comical intelligent man. He was a regular at the Colonial Tavern where I worked. He always made me laugh in fact we talked alot . He always went for coffee for the staff, he got 1 too. Everyone loved him.
Henry made me a beautiful kitchen table and chairs when I bought my house. I cherish them. He also made me 2 high back wooden lawn chairs and and oval table for my back yard. I loved them.
RIP Henru

Henry and I entered the engineering program at St. F. X. in the early 1970's and have remained friends ever since. I will always remember his patience in trying to explain the complexities of the numerous advanced math courses we needed to know for our engineering program (almost all of which I've since forgotten) but with his help and assistance, I made it through and we both graduated from Nova Scotia Technical College in 1976. I recall the "weekend escapes" to his basement workshop as it was a great way for him to relieve the stress of studies, endless homework assignments and exams. He sure produced some beautiful furniture from that workshop. I kept in touch with Henry over the years and mom and I would always visit him over Christmas or if I got back home during a summer break. He was always happy to see us and we were never at a loss for conversation - always having a wide variety of topics to discuss. I always appreciated Henry's comments on the Legendary Equipment Calendars I produced for Caterpillar Tractor Inc. and made sure he had one every year. I will miss not seeing him when I visit Nova Scotia in the years to come but he will always remain in my memory.
I added an image of one of Henry's favorite math problems that he was so good at solving - the Fourier Transform... it's still all Greek to me, even after all these years!

I was so saddened to hear the news of Harry's passing. I have very fond memories of visiting New Glasgow to see Clyde, Mabel and Harry with my parents Dennis and Sheila Cockburn (nee Ross) and my brother Donald. Even as a kid I always felt so at home. I loved visiting Harry’s workshop in the basement - it was better then my woodworking shop at school! I remember his blue pickup truck and driving around town with him and his passion for classical music.
We are very fortunate to have many pieces of furniture made by Harry in my mother’s home. Including a lamp set that he made when he was probably in High School. These pieces of furniture are displayed with great pride and are very treasured pieces in our family home. Prior to my father’s passing in 2020 Harry and my father talked quite regularly and these telephone conversations brought tremendous joy to my father, and we are forever grateful.
When my son decided to attend Dalhousie University to study Electrical Engineering, Harry talked to me about the upcoming challenges he would face. I will always remember Harry’s advice and how much he cared that my son would be successful.
My deepest condolences to Harry's family and friends.

My condolences to Henry's family. Henry was a brilliant fellow engineer and a very talented craftsman. I purchased this Jewelry Chest from Henry more than 40 years ago and it is as beautiful and functional today as the day that I received it. Henry and my older brother were in the same class at St. Francis Xavier U and I was 2 years behind. My brother kept in contact with Henry and he asked about the Chest. I gladly forwarded a photo of the chest to my brother who send the photo to Henry and he was amazed that I kept it. This beautiful work of art will serve as a tribute to Henry who left us too soon.
