Obituary of Darryl Joseph Toney

Darryl Joseph Toney, 43, of Pictou Landing First Nation, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 5, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of late Joseph Dennis Francis and late Marguerite Toney. He was a resident of Pictou Landing First Nation his whole life. Darryl loved to keep busy. He loved his family, and his pets. He would always take the time to decorate for the holidays. He enjoyed spending time outdoors where he had a strong passion for landscaping. You could always find him outside working on his yard mowing the grass, trimming, and clearing brush and trees. He started a landscaping business where he was able to keep busy, help others and do what he enjoyed doing. Darryl could fix just about anything. He was always determined to figure out a solution or a way to make things work. One of his hobbies he spent a lot of time on was RC cars and trucks. He would drive them and repair them as needed. There wasn’t much he wasn’t able to fix. He was very helpful with fixing anything for anyone. He has fixed and repaired snow blowers, four wheelers, land mowers, whipper snippers, power wheels. He is survived by his sisters, Lisa (Morris) Toney, Waycobah; Shannon Toney, Waycobah; Tammy Toney, Pictou Landing. Brothers, Joseph (Courtney) Toney, Millbrook; Chad Toney, Pictou Landing. Nieces and nephews, Kayla, Randall, Austin, Shawn Jr., Brian, Kendra, Emily, Owen, Lindon, Gabe. Great Nephew, Kingston; His Godchild, Logan. He was predeceased by his 2 infant sisters, Sandra and Denise. His remains will rest in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation after 3 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, and all-day Sunday, December 11, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, in Our Lady Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom Stephan presiding. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the Pictou County SPCA.
