My heartfelt sympathy to her mother, sister, son and extended family. She will be truly missed but never forgotten. I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

I was so very sad to hear of Paula's passing...almost in disbelief. I had the pleasure of coaching and teaching her in junior high. Such a tremendous athlete and team player who always enjoyed the social aspect of playing as much as the sport. I know she cared deeply for her teammates and was always lots of fun on the many basketball trips often accompanied by her mom Heather.. Paula had the once in lifetime experience of scoring in her own basket but immediately made up for it by dribbling right to the other basket and scoring. Whether butting opposing player away while rebounding or driving through a crowd, Paula was a standout on the court.
Paula sung beautifully at our wedding and of course always offered her singing ability to the school's many talent shows...the days when school was allowed to have fun. Ronalda and I are thinking of Jaden and all the family at this very difficult time. Paula's joie de vivre was always on display, leaving happiness in her wake.

Dear Heather and Janice,
Paula was always very sweet and supportive of me, as a friend and in my music and I was much inspired by her. She had a very special instrument, I’ll never forget the first time I heard her sing, she did a fantastically funny rendition of ‘Second Hand Rose’ in the Music Festival, her comic timing was perfect. Mum really enjoyed when Paula would come to the house, she and Paula got on really well. I think Mum got a kick out of Paula, as did I. Sending much love to you, I can’t imagine how hard this all is. But Paula’s voice, kindness and humor will live on forever.
Sending deepest condolences,
Love Stacey, Erik and John Fraser

Sending love beyond measure to all who were blessed to know Paula. She shaped my childhood, motivated me, and instilled a confidence in me that I certainly wouldn’t have had without her. As I write this, I’m wearing an old jacket of hers. She also inspired my fashion sense. Jaden, I love you dearly and I’m so thankful your mom gave me my first job… babysitting you! It had been a little while since I had seen Paula, but here are some photos I took the last time I did. Jaden and Christina’s prom. Love you all. Love you Paula.

Dear Heather, Janice, Jaden and family
Paula and I have been best friends since grade 7! The fun we had playing basketball ! So much fun! University roommates with Paula and Janice ! I learned so much about cleaning and organizing ! Walking buddies for 19 years! The laughs and the therapy that our walks gave both of us will never be forgotten xo ! The joy by the pool with our kids! You were the hostess with mostest ! Jaden and Christina were born 12 hours apart and that was a special treasure that they are close friends and we all love and I will appreciate Paula’s generosity, love and amazing friendship ! Never to be forgotten xo I love you forever Paula Phinney!

Paula was a well respected Reading Recovery teacher who shared her joy of teaching with her colleagues. A treasured memory for me is the day she came back to the classroom covered in post it notes, students were writing sight words on them. She was covered even her face, who else but Paula would go to any length to ensure her students were engaged and learning. I will miss her special spark and our pinky swear conversations. Dear Janice and Heather,
Paula and I were roommates in 2nd and 3rd year at St. FX. I have thought about her often over the years - wondering about her life and hoping it was full. Reading her obituary affirms that indeed it was; she loved hard and was loved back in equal measure.
The girls from '93 were shocked and heartbroken over this news and offer you our deepest sympathies. We are grateful she was a big part of such fond memories. Go gently. With love, Liz (Casey) Wroz.

So saddened to hear about Paula's passing. She truly was one of a kind. Losing her is such a huge loss to the entire Frank H family. She was incredible at what she did and made such an impact on one of my girls that she worked with in the reading recovery program. It was clear how much that she loved her students and they loved her right back. Rest in Peace Ms. Phinney!

To Paula’s family and friends and work family and students my deepest sympathies. I worked with Paula most of last year in her class as a substitute EA on and off and absolutely she was the fun loving teacher that always made you feel welcome into her classroom. She spoke of her son often and how very proud she was of him and told me so many stories. She loved all the students and would do anything for any staff member at a moments notice. Her lack of technology skills would make the whole class laugh. Frank H friends I send you lots of hugs and thinking of you all. Rest in peace Ms Phinney.
