Colin Pearson posted a condolence

I was saddened to learn of the passing of one of my very favorite teachers. Parker embodied a calm, inquisitive guidance in his style and it encouraged students through many years. He also inspired me to own several Volvos over the years!
Oddly enough, 45 years on, I saw a photo somewhere of Parker sitting in a bathtub on the gym stage. That special memory of him taking that out of character risk brought a smile. I tried to contact him by phone last Spring, to let him know what he meant to me in my journey, but didn't catch him...seems likely he was on a river based on what I have been reading.
We could all do well to strive to be as missed as what Parker will be. I pass along my condolences to his family and those who loved him.

Mr. Wong was my most beloved high school teacher (1985-86) and I recall his clever wit and respected him so much. I was very happy to reconnect with him through my daughter’s participation in Science fair several years ago and then again as a tutor for her last year. I was very sad to learn of his sudden passing and I wanted his family to know how much I adored him. Sending my condolences to you all; he was first class.

On behalf of my family and the St. Mary's Pastoral Charge I extend deepest sympathy to Parker's family and friends. His beloved camp was directly across from the Manse, and he would always smile, chat or wave. Sometimes he would attend a service too! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God comfort and strengthen you with peace.

A true gentleman. Sincere sympathy from the staff of Poulain's Pharmacy. May he be looking down from heaven's best fishing spot.

Barb and I were so sad to hear of Parker's sudden passing. He was at our house last month when our former Rotary exchange student Oliver Wellauer visited us from Switzerland. Oliver graduated from Stellarton High and became good fishing friends with Parker. Parker gave Oliver some flies that he tied during the visit. Parker also taught our 2 boys and he was looked upon as a great teacher. Our deepest sympathy.

Mr Wong was such a wonderful teacher. He never lost his patience dealing with his students, even on a sunny Friday afternoon when we were "in weekend mode". His love of teaching shone through and he was an inspiration to those of us who later became teachers. I was delighted to see him and reconnect at our twenty year reunion. Sending condolences to his family and friends.
He was one of the great ones! Janice Salter Mason, class of 1972

Parker was one of the most memorable teachers at SHS. Those of us in the Photography Club enjoyed his gentle guidance and friendship. He has made a mark on many of his students. So did Marilyn, and I believe they have finally been reunited.

He was a great Chemistry teacher when I had him at SHS back around 1989-91. He made the class fun. I remember the first day of chemistry class at the start of the school year, he took an aluminum pop can and ripped it in half with his bare hands. He then gave a can or two to some of the boys in the class to try and do the same. They were not able to. He then showed off again and then proceeded to give the girls some cans to try and rip in half. The girls were able to rip them open, making the boys look bad. It was an halarious and great way to start the school year. Soon after he revealed the trick in how he was able to etch the inside of the can with an acid and eat away at the aluminum, making it weak and easy to rip apart. That's when I first knew that aluminum cans had a plastic coating on the inside. I'm sure he will be truly missed, but I will never forget him. I'm sorry for your loss.

Parker was simply one of a kind. His generous spirit and kindness to all will be missed tremendously. I had the privilege of working with Parker at SHS and the early years of the PCRA. He tied flies like no other and we shared much laughter fishing salmon, trout and mackeral. He will be deeply missed by anyone whom was lucky enough to meet him. Good bye my friend.
