Obituary of Cecilia Mary Margaret Curry

Curry (MacDonald), Mary Margaret Cecilia age 97, of the Valley View Villa, Riverton, N.S. formerly of Stellarton, NS passed away peacefully of natural causes surrounded by her family on October31, 2022 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. She was the daughter of the late John James MacDonald (of Upper Grand Mira, Cape Breton) and Mary Ann ( nee McCormick)MacDonald(community of French Road ,Cape Breton),late of Witney Pier, N.S. Cecilia was predeceased by her loving husband ,Francis G. (Frank) Curry ,P.Eng.; sisters Anne C. MacDonald; Mary E. (Mish)Power ;Helen V. Roach and brothers Bernie A. MacDonald; Angus L. MacDonald and John JV MacDonald and nephews Phillip Power and Russel MacDonald. Cecilia was born in Sydney, N.S. and spent her childhood years in Whitney Pier, N.S. After graduating from Sydney Academy and the School of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital Glace Bay ,N.S., Cecilia worked for several years in New York N.Y., Sydney N.S. ,and in later years in Owen Sound Ont. and Summerside P.E.I. Cecilia married Frank on January 31 ,1952 .They settled in Sydney River ,N.S. and started to raise a family of five(5). Throughout their following years ,they lived in Owen Sound ,Ont, Summerside P.E.I. and finally Stellarton N.S. Since December 2016 , she had been residing in Valley View Vila ,Riverton N.S. Cecilia was a former member of Abercrombie Golf Club ,New Glasgow N.S. She was an avid swimmer and skater. Mom loved a good game of bridge ,enjoyed sketching, painting and gardening. Mom lived a faith -filled life and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Mom took great pride and joy in her family and will be greatly missed by all of us. Cecilia is survived by son Tom Curry (late Lynn MacDermid) Kings Head N.S.; daughters, Dr. Lois E. Curry (Jim) Savannah, GA., Carol Ann Kasaboski (Dan) Kingston , Ont.; Margaret Curry Phoenix (Jim) ,Calgary AB.; and Angela Curry ,Stellarton ,N.S.; granddaughters ,Brooke, Michelle, Paige, Kathryn and Emily; grandson Bradley and great-grandchildren Carson ,Ella and Noah; many nieces and nephews ,grandnephews and grandnieces. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. There will be a private ,family Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church ,Lourdes ,N.S. with burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. The family would like to especially thank the superb ,caring staff of Valley View Villa, the Palliative Care Ward ,Aberdeen Hospital ,and Noreen and Louise for taking such wonderful ,compassionate care of Mom.
