Obituary of James Robert Fitt

James Robert Fitt James Robert Fitt of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia (formally Stellarton) passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at the age of 74. He died of complications from COVID 19 after many years of struggling with diabetes, heart disease and Parkinson’s which left him with declining health. Jim was born in New Glasgow on February 24, 1949, to father Stephen Patrick and mother Constance Virginia (Trott). The fourth born of six, Jim studied to be a machinist at the Institute of Technology in Halifax and later worked at the Trenton Car Works as well as practicing his trade in Ontario. Throughout the on again off again years of the Car Works, he also worked driving taxi in Stellarton. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Catherine, brother Stephen, brother-in-law Charles (Kenney), first wife Patricia (O’Brien) and son-in-law Max (Johnson). He is survived by his second wife Marsha (McRae); children Jim (Charlotte) and Dennis (Janice); stepchildren Michelle, Shannon (Darryl) and Paul (Silvia); grandchildren Amanda, James, Megan, Andy, Lucas and Caitlin; step-grandchildren Eric, Jamie, Kaitlyn, Raina, Megan and Cole; sister Sharon (John) Perry, Mary (Henry) and brother Fred (Joyce). A private graveside service will take place on Monday Oct 17 at 11am followed by a celebration of life at the Stellarton Legion from noon until 2pm. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice in Jim’s name.
