Obituary of Teresa Mary Fitt

Please share a memory of Teresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Teresa Mary Fitt on Oct.2nd, 2022. Teresa passed away peacefully in palliative care at the Aberdeen hospital with her family by her side. Born in Stellarton, N.S. on September 4th, 1938 Teresa was the first born child to the late Edward "Ned" Fitt and the late Sarah "Sadie" (Hurley) Fitt. Teresa is survived by her daughter Joanne Paris and son Jim (Helen) Shanahan, her grandchildren, Ashley (Tyler) Brimicombe, Zach and Jordon Shanahan, her 3 great-grandchildren "Nanny's angels" Ethan, Chloe and Lincoln Brimicombe. As well as her step-grandchildren. And companion Buddy Murray. Teresa was so proud and loved all her siblings dearly. Sisters, Sally (Art) Brennan, Joan (Percy) Pellerine, Rita Fitt, Cathy (Allison) Ross and Brothers, Pat (Noreen) Fitt, and Art (Joanne) Fitt. Also her brother in law's Dan Macintosh, Baker Dykens and sister in law Leona Fitt. Teresa had many nieces, nephews and family who loved her. Besides her parents, Teresa was predeceased by brothers John (infancy) and Neddie Fitt. And sisters Alice MacIntosh and Winnie Dykens. Teresa had a passion for excercise and dancing. Over her 84 years she was an excercise and yoga instructor, and even had her own television segment on k vision. From there she went on to teach clogging "Down Home Cloggers", Line dancing "Down Home Stompers", Irish dancing, and even Ballroom dancing. She loved to teach both kids and adults the art of dance and went on to host many workshops, dance in the parades and travel all over with her dancers. If there was music you can bet Teresa was up dancing! Teresa worked at the old Norfolk, the Aberdeen hospital, many nursing homes and also cared for many of the seniors in the community with some of her sisters and daughter/daughter in law by her side. Teresa loved her family and her grandchildren more than anything. Nan's famous words were "do you need anything?" and she was known for always being fashionably late. If supper was going to be at 5 we'd make sure to tell nan to be there by 4 and she might make it on time. Nan put up a tough fight against cancer over the last year and a half. And an even harder fight this last month. Right until the end she still wanted to make sure we didn't need anything. We would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Schnare as well as the wonderful nurses in palliative care. You ladies are truly amazing and we are so grateful you took such good care of Mom/Nan. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 5 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral home in Stellarton. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Stellarton. "I hope you're dancing in the sky And I hope you're singing in the angel's choir And I hope the angels know what they have I'll bet it's so nice up in Heaven since you arrived. Since you arrived" www.angusfuneralhomes.com
