Obituary of Elizabeth Mary MacQuarrie

Elizabeth Mary MacQuarrie (MacDonald), 75, of Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully in her childhood home on February 21, 2022 after an eight-year battle with cancer. Born December 11th, 1946, daughter of the late Gloria Eaton and Buckley MacDonald. Elizabeth would want to be remembered by the delicious biscuits she made, for being the best beach glass finder on her long walks on the beach, for her bowling and bridge skills, and for her silly shenanigans. She is survived by her daughter Dacia (Ivor) MacDonald and son Greg (Janet) MacQuarrie; grandchildren, Veronika (Geoff)Coderre, Reid (Chanelle Cameron) MacQuarrie, Hannah (Mitch Gammon) MacQuarrie, Caroline MacDonald and Carson MacQuarrie; great granddaughter Olivia Gammon and soon to be new great grand baby; her sisters Kathleen (and the late John) Fuller, Mary Lou (Charles) Munro, brother Jackie (Terry) MacDonald many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Gloria and Buckley and her brother-in-law John Fuller. Mary Lou and Charlie spent many hours the last couple of years taking Mom to appointments, keeping meticulous notes for Mom's care and checking in on her daily and many times more often. Kathleen and Mary Lou were devoted the last several months to attending to their sister's end of life care and were by her side ensuring her final days were spent at home in love and comfort. Also a special thank you to Dr. Rendon, Dr. Wood, Dr. Kwasnik, Dr. Craig and the Palliative Care Team who supported her treatment and most especially Rachel MacDonald. As well a thank you to sister-in-law Myrna Polley for her expert injection skills, reminicing and chats. A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Due to Covid restrictions attendance will be by invitation-only. Others are invited to attend virtually by clicking on the following link at 2pm on Saturday. February 26 @ 2pm (angus funeral home facebook). A burial service will be planned for a future date when a larger gathering is permissable. Family flowers only, please. Donations can be made in memory of Elizabeth to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada, the Palliative or Cancer Care Units at Aberdeen Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
