Obituary of Jill Noreen Cameron

Please share a memory of Jill to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jill Noreen (MacKay) Cameron, age 56, passed away on February 3rd, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Jill was a kind and loving soul who took many lessons from her mother. She loved her family above everything and was extremely proud of her two boys Bryden and Chase. Jill graduated from New Glasgow High School, attended Mt St Vincent University and graduated from the Data Processing Technology course at PRVS. After graduating she was employed with Glasgow Metals and later with Empire Group/Crombie Riet in Stellarton. She was always thinking of others and had a passion for volunteering in the community. She was a past member of the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary, SPCA and served on the Board of Managers at Union Presbyterian Church in Thorburn. She was a founding member of Pictou County Early Intervention and a long time Board Member at Pictou County Special Olympics. She dearly loved her Special Olympics family and was very sad to have to step down due to her illness. Jill did not shrink at a challenge and helped to organize the first Canadian Down Syndrome Conference in New Glasgow. She enjoyed helping with 4-H and the great entertainment Bryden’s ducks provided. Jill enjoyed attending concerts, music festivals and camping with family and friends. She had fun doing crafts of any type and recently took up rock painting which she distributed to family and friends and the kind souls loading the groceries in her car. She delighted in online shopping for herself and others and found great joy at the sound of a courier truck. Jill was predeceased by her mother Beverly (Prokaska) MacKay and her father-in-law Roy Cameron. She is survived by her husband of 32 years Gary, sons Chase and Bryden, father Wilfred MacKay, brothers Craig MacKay (Gail Trotter) and Dean MacKay, favorite mother-in-law Judy Cameron, many aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews. Many thanks to friends who supported her during her illness and the great medical support of Dr Jeans, Dr Fahim, Dr Osemekhian Eriakha, Dr Horton and Dr Krawczyk, palliative care staff and nurses and the VON. Due to covid restrictions, there will be a private family funeral service held at the H.W. Angus Funeral home, New Glasgow on Monday February 7, 2022 at 2pm. Masks and Double vaccination required to attend the service. The service will be live streamed on the H.W. Angus Funeral Home facebook page. Spring burial at a later date. Donations in Jill’s name can be made to Pictou County Special Olympics, Union Presbyterian Church in Thorburn or a charity of your choice. angusfuneralhomes.com
