Obituary of Jean Marie Lockhart

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Marie Lockhart (Kay). Jean passed away on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, at the age of 72. She was the daughter of the late Albert Edward and Edith Cavell (Taylor) Kay. Jean spent the last few months with those she loved most by her side. She faced her diagnosis with tremendous courage and faith in her spiritual beliefs. A private, compassionate soul, Jean loved classical music, painting, a good book and a cup of tea. Jean often accompanied Gerald on his hunting, and trapping trips and enjoyed gardening and raising animals on their small farm together. Jean was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them on the farm in Scotch Hill. Jean worked as an administrative assistant at Michelin for 25 years and retired after almost 15 years with Crombie REIT. While her loss diminishes us all, it will be particularly felt by her loving husband Gerald, her children Jay Lockhart (Gayle Cook), Tara (Chris) Russell, Todd Lockhart, her grandchildren Baylea Miller (Brandon Gillespie), Liam Russell, Hannah Russell, her siblings Alice (Len) Richards, John (Marion) Kay, Peter (Gail) Kay and her extended family. Jean was predeceased by her sister Betty Fraser and her brothers Allan Kay and Michael Clarke. We would like to thank the palliative care team for their compassion and care over the past few months. At Jean’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Donations, if you care to make one, may be made in her memory to The Lodge that Gives, Pictou County Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice.
