Mary Alice Allen, 98, of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, passed away on Monday, November 29 at the Valley View Villa in Riverton. Mother was a shining light to all she met and would always leave you feeling better usually with a smile on your face. She loved tea parties, bowling and going to the cottage. Mother was never alone and was surrounded by family and friends all her wonderful life. She was loved and respected by the staff and patients at the Aberdeen Hospital where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide for many years. Alice was born in Hadleyville, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia, to Wentworth and Mary Ada Hadley on January 16, 1923. Alice will be missed by her loving and devoted sons, Robert (New Glasgow) and Gary (Alice Dean, Halifax). Alice, will also be greatly missed by Bob’s daughters Shauna (Gordon MacIsaac) and Chelsea (John McKinnon) and grandsons Greyson and Wesley. She will also be greatly missed by Gary’s daughters, Haley and Lesley (Andrew Foran) and grandson, Elton. Alice was preceded by her spouse, Robert and her brothers and sisters: Lewis, Earnest, Howard, Thomas, Earl, Margaret, Florence and Lena. Alice also leaves behind a large number of nieces and nephews as well as a wealth of loving and caring friends. A special thank you goes out to the staff of the Valley View Villa for all their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens in the spring.
