Obituary of Michael Edwin Underwood

STELLARTON - Michael Edwin Underwood, 44, of Lower Barney’s River, recently moved to STELLARTON, where he passed away Monday, November 8, 2021.
Born in Antigonish he was a son of the late Edwin(Eddie) Underwood and Mary Watson (O’Connor).
Michael graduated from East Pictou Rural High School and went on to Akerley Community College in Dartmouth to become a Bricklayer. After graduating he went to Alberta to work, and while there, he studied and became qualified as a Journeyman. After working in Alberta and Saskatchewan for eleven years, he returned home to Lower Barney’s River. Since his return to Nova Scotia, he worked for Darim Masonry Limited in Bedford, NS. He enjoyed the company of his travel mates and work crew, Hughie Monroe, John Lloyd, Lee MacIntyre, Eric Ward, and Matthew Munroe from Saltsprings to Halifax every work day.
Michael loved being with family and enjoyed taking pictures of everybody at family gatherings. He also loved to hang out at his brother Patrick’s shop with “the guys”. Mike was a thoughtful and kind person who always put others before himself. He was very fond of spending time with his dogs, Happy and Buster, on Big Island Beach and at the Iron Bridge in Avondale!
He was predeceased by his father, G Edwin (Eddie) Underwood, uncle Robert Watson, cousin Brent Fisher, stepfather James O’Connor, and stepsister Faith O’Connor.
He is survived by his mother Mary (Watson) O’Connor, Lwr. Barney’s River, brothers James (Jim) Underwood, Pictou, Patrick (Elaina) O’Connor, Lwr. Barney’s River, two sisters Lisa (Shaun) Briand, Pictou, and Jenifer (David) MacDonald, Linacy. He is also survived by stepmother Beverly Joudrie-Underwood, stepbrothers and sisters Brenda (Barry) Dunn, David (Rosemary) O’Connor, Calvin (Heather) Joudrie, PEI, Kelly (Carla) Joudrie, Pictou, Trina (David) Joudrie, Pictou, Lee Joudrie, Pictou, Glen (Jenny) Joudrie, Pictou, and Bevin (Tatum) Joudrie. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Bill and Marion Watson, Ann and Ivan Fisher, Jeanette Watson, Bill and Donna Underwood, Marilyn and Vernon Cameron, Joe and Joan Underwood, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family burial in Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lower Barney’s River, NS.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lwr. Barney’s River, Nova Scotia SPCA, or MacLeods Mountain Mudding.
