Obituary of Colin Murray Dunbar

Colin Murray Dunbar January 6, 1977 – October 25, 2021 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected death of Colin Murray Dunbar on October 25, 2021 at the age of 44. Born on January 6, 1977 in New Glasgow, he was the son of Murray and Carole (MacDougall) Dunbar of New Glasgow. Beloved son, father, and brother, Colin will forever be remembered for his heart of gold, unshakable bravery, and distinct laugh that could light up the darkest of rooms. Colin defied definition, as can clearly be seen in the variety of people that called him family or friend. He loved deeply and left an imprint on all those lucky enough to find themselves in his orbit. His curiosity and creativity knew no bounds - a wanderer and poet. He lived by his own rules and often made them up as he went along. A kid at heart, Colin was fast friends with everyone he met, having unconditional love for all people and animals alike. Colin lived 3 lifetimes, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and acceptance. Colin is survived by his children Colin Jr, Ryleigh & Brianna Echo; his siblings Catherine (Julia) Brown, Garren (Sarah Potter) Dunbar, Elizabeth (Peter) LaPier, and Neil Dunbar; paternal grandmother Alberta (Dahr) Dunbar; former partner Crystal Talbot, nephews Emmett & Sebastian, nieces Adyn & Olivia, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Frank and Muriel MacDougall; and paternal grandfather Clarence (Pat) Dunbar. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 6th at Summer Street Industries, 72 Park Street in New Glasgow, officiated by Deacon Art Mitchell. Proof of vaccination and photo ID are required. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
