Obituary of Freda Mary Hamilton

Freda Mary Hamilton, age 67 of Thorburn passed away, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Truro she was a daughter of the late Mary (May) (Breen) Hamilton and Fred Hamilton.
Freda was a longtime employee of Stanfield’s in Truro, retiring after 35 years of service. Freda's lifelong love of horses brought her much happiness. She and her partner Dave created MacGregor Glen Clydesdales. Her horse travels brought her from Nova Scotia to Ayr, Scotland. She showed at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto and the World Clydesdale Show in London, Ontario. Freda was Past President of the Nova Scotia Clydesdale Club. She was also a well-known Havanese dog breeder for many years.
She was a member of the former St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Thorburn where she was a member of the CWL.
She is survived by her partner David MacGregor, Thorburn; daughter Monica (Barry); granddaughters Kirsten, Sarah and Maddison; grandson Alex; step-daughters Donna, Terry (Kevin) and May (Demetrios); step-grandchildren Shelby, Carver and Keith; sisters Donna (Doug) Casey, Porters Lake; Delores Burke (John Begg), Halifax; brother Robert Hamilton (Claudette), Truro; special aunt Kitty Cameron, Truro; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by sister Maxine and brother Charles both in infancy.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday October 5, 2021 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held from the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 11 am with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions masks are mandatory and proof of vaccination is required to attend the visitation or the funeral service.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Pictou County 4-H or the Pictou County Palliative Care Society.
The family extends many thanks to Dr. Kwasnik, Nurse Rachel MacDonald, the nurses and staff of Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care, Pictou County VON, special friend Pat McCabe and all others who helped Freda throughout her illness.
