Evangeline Catherine Way 1923-2021 The family of “Vangie” Way are saddened to announce her passing on September 15th, 2021, at the age of 98, in Valley View Villa, Riverton. Born to Bill and Ruth (MacWilliam) Mac Millan in 1923. She attended Springville school, Stellarton High and Acadia University. After her marriage to our dad, Elmer, they settled in Riverton and raised the four of us. Mom was multi-talented: expert seamstress, baker of the best oat cookies, gardener extraordinaire, knitter of mitts, a prolific strawberry grower, and later a famous genealogist. Her passion for genealogy developed as her family grew up, becoming renowned far and wide. She welcomed people into her home or visited cemeteries, sharing her incredible knowledge. The N.S. Genealogical Association honored her with a lifetime membership. Her last year, to the day, was spent in the Villa, surrounded by love and compassion. We sincerely thank all of the staff for their kindness shown to her and also to us. Mom is survived by her sister Mildred (Mac) Eaton, and by her daughters Merla (Robert,”Smokey”) Gerrior and Jeannie , three Grandchildren, Laura (Nate),Neil (Janel), and Anna (Darren) as well as 7 Great-Grandkids ,Cohen, Maggie, Sam, Josie, Max, Lili-Anne and Malcolm. She was predeceased by Elmer, sons Barry and Norman brother Jack McMillan. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial service for family and invited friends will be held Friday October 1st 2021 at 2 pm from the Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with Reverend Charles MacPherson presiding.
