Obituary of Murray Ross Stewart

Murray Ross Stewart age 91, of Thorburn, passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, August 23, 2021. He was born May 13, 1930 to John Peter and Christine (Ross) Stewart. Murray was a hard worker who always enjoyed life and brought smiles to all he met. He was employed in the grocery business for many years, first with Johnson and MacDonald’s then with Halifax Wholesalers and lastly with Atlantic Wholesalers from which he retired. Murray is survived by daughters Wendy (Robert) Burns, Trenton; Debby Sangster (Al Harris), Scotsburn; Wanda Sampson, Las Vegas; brother Morty (Amie), Canning; sisters Alice McGee, Riverton; Diane Wright, Riverton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Dorothy MacLellan; sisters-in-law Karen MacDonald and Eileen Stewart; grandchildren, Allison, Melanie, and Molly; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (MacDonald) who passed away last December after 66 years of marriage; his brother Ray and sister Georgina Cameron. A private family funeral service will be held in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with John Reeves officiating. A public graveside service will be held in the Thorburn Cemetery on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 3:00 pm.
