Sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom and wife recently and know that she is in a much better place with no more suffering and struggles. She was one of the handful of parents who was always in the stands watching our hockey games which must have been a struggle in itself!
Cherish all of the good memories and that will hopefully take away your pain of loss in time.
Regards
Ross MacIsaac

To Doug, Greg, Kenny and Angela
We wish to express our sympathies for the loss of Verna. We would like you to know how many ,many wonderful memories we have of her and our times together. Way too many to mention them all but a few include the dances with the Lions Club at the home, she never missed , always the first to be asked to dance because she was the best dancer, many laughs at the bridge table with a large bag of chips and a large bottle of orange pop. The special times we shared with her at her special place, Bass River. All these memories and many more will live in our hearts forever, as will our love we have for her.
Rest in Peace, Dear Verna, Rest in Peace. With love to you all, Connie, Grant and family

I have very fond memories of Vera from my childhood.
Remember a lovely late spring dinner I some how managed to wiggle into with Aunt Ida,Uncle Vernon and Mrs.Kenny Vera was a wonderful host. In my young mind, I thought Uncle Vernon and Vera shared the same sense of humour and winkle in her eyes
Take care

For Aunt Verna
I remember...
Feeling so lucky that, with Nanny and Grampy Blakeney, I had three sets of grandparents.
My first love, a cute blond “boy”, called Tinker Blakeney.
My second love, a “not quite” blond “boy” I named Tinker Bell Burgess. He was my surprise Christmas puppy from you and Uncle Dougie. I don’t think my mom was quite as excited by this surprise as I was.
Going for drives with you and Uncle Dougie, and having picnics along the way. (But I don’t remember having pinwheels!)
Accidentally falling into Rocky Lake at Grampy B’s camp and being totally mortified when my wet clothes were removed right there on the dock.
Your’s and Uncle Dougie’s wedding and how Catherine’s dress, and my flower girl dress, were replicas of your wedding gown. Catherine’s was light green, not white like mine, so that made mine more special. (And Nanny B’s turquoise blue “feather” hat!)
The gold heart locket that you gave me for being your flower girl. I wore it for my grade primary school pictures.
My utter disbelief when Nanny B informed me that I wouldn’t be going with you and Uncle Dougie when you left on your honeymoon.
My first overnight stay with you and Uncle Dougie at your apartment and how you “rolled” the pillows up tight before you covered them with the bedspread. They always looked so nice.
When Baby Greg arrived and your distress when you found me combing his infant head with a heavy, sterling silver comb - sorry about that Greg!
All the fun we had at King’s Rest and learning how to make chicken “fried” rice using Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup.
My Mom being flabbergasted at just how much mess you could make when you cooked.
Your laugh when you told the story of Angela spreading a jar of peanut butter on herself and the kitchen. (Patsy never, ever saw the humour in that)
How touched I was when Anthony and I received your Nanny Kenny’s last quilt for our wedding gift. You and Nanny B had to finish off some of those Colonial Ladies, and I think of all three of you every time I use it.
What a terrific Forman ( ?person) you were at my Dad’s 50th birthday party when he was on trial for not acting his age.
But mostly, I remember you, what a special lady you were and how special I felt to be your “first” niece.
Luv ya,
Wendy
