Linacy /Hopewell: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of W. Blaine “Nic” Nichols age 75 of Linacy and formerly of Hopewell on Sunday August 15th ,2021 in the QE11 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born June 3 ,1946 in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Gwen Dalling, Blaine was raised and adopted by his late grandparents Colburn and Helen (Chisholm) Nichols. During his early years Blaine lived and worked in various parts of Canada and Florida before returning to Pictou County. An avid sports fan he enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, and NASCAR, Blaine also enjoyed the outdoors either in the garden or driving the lawn tractor. His time spent with friends was something he looked forward to. Surviving are his loving partner and best friend Erika MacDonald and her family, his new found love and fur baby Flash, sister Dudy Cranwell of Owen Sound, Ont., siblings Sherri MacDonald and Tim Dalling, chosen grandson Harrison Schlewing, and a number of nieces and nephews. Blaine was predeceased by his former partner Lise Schlewing, his biological mother Gwen Dalling, brothers Weldie, Carl and Lloyd. A public graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11 A.M. in the Hopewell Cemetery. Please bring your own lawn chair and social distance protocol will be in place.
