Obituary of Jeannette Elaine Smith

Please share a memory of Jeannette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The sun was shining bright the day my Mama died. I am sure it was the brilliance of Heaven and the happy glow of the all of the people who had died before her who had been waiting in eager anticipation for this precious angel to finally arrive. You see, my mother was the finest person I've ever known and I don't say that just because she happens to be MY mother. There's not a soul who has ever known her who would disagree. As I held her in my arms in her bed and sang her song "My Saviour Is Here" in her ear and cried for the loss of this beautiful lady, she saw her Jesus and He took her breath away. Mama was kind and gentle, funny and talented, compassionate and caring..and she loved deeply with her whole heart. She loved every person and every creature she ever encountered..and they loved her in return. It was unavoidable. If you knew her, you loved her. She had a lifelong passion for music which will live on in "her heartstrings" (her three grandsons) who loved her madly and whom she adored beyond comprehension. She was the best mother, grandmother, wife, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin, friend. She leaves this world a better place for her invaluable contribution and Heaven will be even more heavenly. She will never be forgotten. She was born in Halifax on November 20th, 1941, the middle of seven children, to Colson and Ruby (Evans) Hiltz. She leaves behind her daughter Heidi (Michael) who can't imagine life without her, Grandsons: Jordan (Jessica), Evan (Teya), and Daniel who have been so incredibly blessed by her constant presence in their lives. Great Grandchildren: Nathan, Jacob and Emilia who brought her so much joy, Step-son Doug (Reta). Sisters: Dolores, Norma, Loretta (Ken), Shirley, Brothers: Leroy and David (Karen), Special Sisters: Debbie and Bonnie, Aunt: Gertie, along with countless Nieces, Nephews, cousins and In-Laws. Special Cousins: Rod and Nancy Rushton, Special friends: Allison and Ann Munro. She leaves us to go home with 'her gangster' her beloved husband Cecil who went on ahead to scope things out for her in June. I'm confident he has her guitar all tuned up for her and is impatiently waiting to pick and grin with his gangster girl. I would like to thank the incredible staff at Maritime Oddfellows Home who cared for her as if she was their only charge, and the wonderful Nurse Next Door ladies, V.O.N. staff, as well as the other amazing care givers who did their part to care for my beloved Mama. My deepest gratitude for your genuine unwavering care, compassion and professionalism. She is free from the brutal bonds of Parkinsons Dementia.. Sweet dreams my beautiful angel... until we meet again... Donations can be made to Pictou County SPCA, Blair Presbyterian Church Garden of Eden, or a charity of your choice. There will be no visitation or funeral as per her wishes. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
