Obituary of Pat Collinson

New Glasgow: Ada Elizabeth "Pat" Collinson age 97 of Ivey’s Terrace, Trenton, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away on July 2, 2021 in Ivey’s Terrace. Born in New Glasgow she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Amelia (Bragg) Patriquin. Pat graduated from Temperance Street and New Glasgow High Schools. Upon graduation from high school she was employed at Margolians in Truro while awaiting entry into the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She graduated in 1945 and worked at the Aberdeen until a year later when she left Canada and travelled to England to be married to Richard “Dick” Collinson. They returned to Canada in 1948 and after three years moved to Sherbrooke and then to Lennoxville, Quebec where Pat taught nursing at The Sherbrooke Hospital and later at the Alexander Galt School until their retirement when they returned to New Glasgow in 1979. Pat was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, a member of the Ladies Aid and a member of the Allan Pollok AMS. She was also a member of the Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter of the IODE and was also an alumnus of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing. She is survived by a daughter Joan Woodley of Ontario, a son David (Edith) Collinson of British Columbia, 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her late husband Richard “Dick” Collinson. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Burial will be at a later date in the Abercrombie Cemetery.
