Obituary of Joyce Marie Mason

Joyce Marie Mason: Stellarton Joyce Marie Mason, age 95, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow formerly of Stellarton, passed away quietly and peacefully on May 30, 2021 in Glen Haven Manor. She was a daughter of the late Sylvanis and Estelle (Brown) Muir. Joyce was a long-time resident of Stellarton. She was a faithful member of Sharon St. John United Church and the UCW along with other church groups. Joyce was a member the Ladies Auxiliary of the Aberdeen Hospital, working for many years in the gift shop. She was very community minded; volunteering for many different community organizations well into her later years and was a strong supporter of the Pictou County Progressive Conservative Party. She had worked for Dr. Maurice Harquail for many years and always put folks at ease when they came for their appointments. Joyce loved people! Loved a good story and a laugh, loved to talk politics and dance and quite simply, loved life! She loved her family with a passion and was blessed with many, many friends. She always made you feel special! She is survived by her son Ron (Sharon) Mason; grandchildren Stephen and Jennifer (Rachel); great grandchildren Ashley, Mikayla and Peyton; sister Jean (Gordon) Edwards; several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, sister Ruby, former husband Lloyd and partner Harold “Babe” Cameron. Joyce chose to continue helping others by donating her body to medical science. A celebration of life will take place at a later date with burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice. The family is so grateful to all the staff at Glen Haven Manor for the “wonderful”exceptional care Joyce received; her long-time doctor and friend, Dr. Spencer Barclay, the VON and all who helped her over the years.
