Donald R. Gendron, Cd It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce that Donald R. Gendron of Pictou, NS has passed away on Jan 26th ,2021 at the age of 91. After battling declining health, Don died peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital. Born August, 1929 to parents Roger and Dorothy, the oldest of 3 siblings. After going all over the world with the Merchant Navy, he then joined the Canadian Guards in 1955, then RCR 1st Battalion (serving in Germany and Cyprus, being part of the NFLQ Crisis) and then retiring from the NS Highlanders. He was a long time legion member. Donald especially enjoyed being around family ,golfing and was an avid dancer Predeceased by his parents, his brother Armand; his wife Thelma (Leedham); his son Kenneth and his grandson Jeff. Survived by his sister Lorraine; his daughters, Kathy McAvoy (Gary) and Tracy Shaw (Harley). He was “Papa” to his grandchildren Kris, Gerry Nathan and Alana and his great grandsons Jaxon, Wyatt, Zachary, Thomas, Emerson, Greyson, Merrick and Callum. There will be no service at this time due to Covid ,a graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or any local Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care doctors and nurses for their care and compassion . They would also like to thank the neighbors for their care and friendship over the years . Arrangements are entrusted to the H.W. Angus Funeral Home
