Our deepest sympathy to the Pettipas family. It would always warm my heart whenever we would see Evelyn, usually at the church hall at some type of function. Of all the “Lourdes Ladies” Evelyn reminded me most of my mom. She was a remarkable lady and I am sure the two of them are “up there” now reminiscing of all the fun times they had in Lourdes, and there were many. Thinking of you all.

The thoughts and prayers of the Pettipas Girls' (Chucks daughters - Rose, Sherry and Eva) are with you all. Aunt Evelyn was an extraordinary lady in every way. Growing up us Pettipas girls we remember how kind and thoughtful she was to each and every one of us. For Rose, she saved special girl dresses so that she could go to special events. Each time a special occasion arose, our Dad (Chuck) would say to Rose "I'm going to see Aunt Evelyn she will fix us up and sure enough Dad would come back with a beautiful outfit for Rose". For Sherry, Aunt Evelyn conveyed her love of nature by passing along her well loved tent trailer and that was the beginning of beautiful family nature adventures for Sherry and family. So many fond memories were made for Sherry while camping. As for me Eva, Aunt Evelyn was my favorite aunt. She visited often and I remember how lively and fun she was. Even though she had so many children of her own she always made time to talk with me during her visits. She made me feel very important and special always asking about my life and how I was doing. She will be sadly missed.

The Pettipas family made a young couple with new twins very much a part of the family when we lived in Lourdes from 78-80. I worked with John at BNS at the time. Lots of firsts with Alvin and Evelyn. They were more than kind and generous with their time.
In life you meet people that show you how you should give back. Evelyn was one of the best at giving without expectation. She will be missed. The Belliveaus in Thunder Bay, On.

We are so sad to hear of Evelyn's passing. We enjoyed her and Alvin's visits so much; unfortunately, we haven't been to New Glasgow in years and truly missed our visits with her. Anyone meeting her for the first time would think they had known her all of their lives as she had the knack of making everyone feel so special. So sad to hear that my God-Mother has passed away. I have so many good memories when it comes to Evelyn. She was like my second Mom. She was such a loving and caring person. She had a great sense of humour and had a lot of compassion for others. I was very lucky to have visited with her two years ago at the Villa. (When my brother died your folks were at the funeral home paying their respects and they went back in the long line up and came through again because as your mother said they forgot to say their prayers the first time. Great story to lighten up a wake.
