Gerard was a trucker in Ontario before moving back to Nova Scotia, where he worked for S.W. Weeks Construction from July 1975 until retirement in April 2008. Gerard loved drives to the beach with his late wife, Betty and their dog Shylo, spending time with the grandchildren, kidding and teasing everyone, gardening, hunting/fishing, Lobster Carnival and feeding the hummingbirds. If asked if you could help him, he would say “fill your boots”. Great conversation and good times were always had at his “well-stocked” trunk! Surviving are his daughter, Sherry (Terry) Cheek of Hopewell, sons: Gerard (Angela) Burke of Middleton and Shane (Dana) Burke of Bethlehem PA; grandchildren: Dylan (Kendal), Oliver, Eden, Erin, Erica, Riley and Liam; sisters: Brenda (Roddie) MacDonald of James River, Marian (Danny) MacDonald of Brierly Brook, Carol (Neil) Richard of Cole Harbour, brothers: John of Avondale, Kevin (Bonnie) of Antigonish, brother-in-laws: Art Ashley of Marshdale, Carl Adams of Ontario and sister-in-law, Patricia (Ken) Stevenson, numerous cousins , nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Betty); brothers: Robert (Sandy), Carl (infancy); sister, Sharran Ashley and brother-in-law, Wane Adams. Thanks to all that helped take care of dad over the last two years. It was Gerard’s wish that there be no services. Cremation has taken place. Private burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Antigonish County, NS sometime in 2021. Rest in peace Dad, we love you and will miss you. In your words, “Catch you later!” until we meet again.
