Born February 20, 1937 in New Glasgow, NS. She grew up in Amherst NS with her parents Burton and Dorothy Holmes and three brothers. She eventually started her career working at Eatons in Moncton, New Brunswick. Marie started dating Doug and they were married on December 12, 1959. Doug was in the military for 25 years. His service lead them to live in Kingston, Oromocto, Baden Baden Germany, Lahr Germamy, and Cornwallis, When she was in Germany she made sure she saw as much of Europe as she could. When Doug retired from the military they decided to build a house and raise their family in New Glasgow. She was in that house in for 43 years. After her sons started school she returned to work and eventually worked at Maritime Steel for 25 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Greg (Shawna), grandsons Ben and Thomas, daughter in law Mandie and grandsons Mason, Hudson, Cooper. They were the light of her life, she said hi to their pictures on the fridge every morning when she made her coffee and every night before she went to bed. She would light up when she heard the word “Nannie”. When any of them came home she made sure she had chocolate milk and ice cream waiting. She enjoyed travel and saw most of the world. She was our families story teller. She was a dedicated, loyal employee and was still receiving offers to return to work. She was know to be forceful and vocal. Visitation will be held at the H.C.
