Marion Matilda Heighton Marion Matilda Heighton, formerly of Lourdes, Stellarton, NS, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, NS, on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the age of 91. Born in West River Station, NS, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Katherine (Ross) MacDonald of Westville, NS. She was a very generous and loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, Bingo and card games in her day. There was nothing she couldn’t do and was always there to give a helping hand. She was a long standing member for more than 30 years with the Lourdes CWL and was a band mother with the Stellarton Balmoral Girls Pipe Band in her younger years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ambrose of 62 years in 2010, and her son, Amby, in 2019. Also by brothers Wilfred, Fraser, Billy; and sisters Viola, Alice and Helen. She is survived by sisters June Patton (Don) of Westville and Irene Herder (Ken) of British Columbia. She is survived by daughters Cathy Gillis (Bill) of Stellarton, Marion Cameron (Terry) of London, Ontario, and Alice Faye Guisso (Randy) of Falmouth, NS; sons Jimmy Heighton (Stacey) of Lourdes and Darrin Heighton of Stellarton; grandchildren Tony Gillis and Cindy MacNeill, Jennifer Stradiotto, Becky, Paul and Andrew Heighton, Sean and Kyle Guisso and Brianne Guisso-Kemp, Chris Heighton and Bronwyn Heighton; and 17 loving great-grandchildren who meant the world to her, daughter-in- law Rita Heighton. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation due to Covid 19. A private family mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Stellarton, NS on Friday, September 4th, 2020 at 11:00am with Father Barrett Clare Johnson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Many thanks to the staff of Ocean Drive at Glen Haven Manor who have taken such wonderful care throughout Mom’s nine years.
