Obituary of Nicholas James Worthen
Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Worthen, Nicholas James, age 27, passed away Wednesday, August 5th, 2020 in Stellarton.
Born in Halifax at the QEII hospital, he was a son of Reid Worthen and Michelle MacNeil-Worthen, both of Stellarton. It is with deep sorrow we announce the loss our big man, our beloved son, with his kind and gentle soul.
Nick graduated from Northumberland High School and then continued his education at NSCC in the Cooking Program. Nick was a chef who had a love and passion for all things culinary.
He worked in various kitchens around the county enjoying his craft. Nick was the instruction Chef at the Superstore cooking classes for sometime, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He especially loved preparing dishes at home and sharing it with family and friends and watching cooking shows with his Mom, an appreciation he no doubt inherited from her love of the same.
Nick was an avid music fan, attending numerous heavy metal concerts with his favourite concert buddy, his Dad. He also shared in family trips to Toronto and the Dominican with his Mom, Dad and sister Lexie, special trips that will always be remembered.
Growing up Nick spent many summers with his family and cousins at Lochaber Lake. Nick was connected to his family and enjoyed gatherings over the years with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and extended family at both the Worthen and MacNeil households. Nick was always smiling, telling stories and having the rest of us laughing. He was easy to be around and easy to love.
Besides his parents, Nick is survived by his sister Lexie Worthen, at home; maternal grandmother Colleen MacNeil, New Glasgow; paternal grandmother Margaret Worthen, New Glasgow; aunts: Lorie MacNeil(Laurie Moser), Sunnybrae; Joylene MacNeil, Port Perry, ON; Cheryl MacKay-Langille(Jim)MacLellan’s Brook; Darlene Taylor(Steve), New Glasgow; uncle Jim Worthen(Nancy MacIssac), Trenton; beloved cousins: Greg(Elizabeth), Caden, Tommy, Nadine, Amanda, Sarah, Jill, Erin, Daniel, Jesse and Rebecca, numerous extended family members and friends around the county.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Ronald Worthen, maternal grandfather Gary MacNeil, special uncle Allan MacKay, and cousins in infancy Liam and Jacob Airey.
Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive visitors from 1-3pm Monday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a private family service will be held at 3pm with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Burial at a later date.
