James Francis Aitkens age 79 of Pleasant Street, Stellarton passed away on July 31, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born December 2, 1940 in Halifax he was a son of the late Cliff and Catherine (Burke) Aitken. James was a resident of Stellarton since 1981 where he was a member of Sharon St. John United Church. He was employed at the former MacGregor Bedding, Sears and retired from Sommex in Stellarton. After retiring he started the Clock Doctor where he repaired clocks and watches. He is survived by his wife the former Eleanor (Harrington), Stellarton; daughter Catheraine (Errol) Shaw, Ottawa; grandchildren Alisha (Chris) Mota, Shayla (Chris) Donnelly, Denika Aitkens and Trae Shaw all of Ottawa; great-grandchildren Noah, Trinity, Savannah and Kaidyn; sisters Marion (Robert) Oliver, Cindy (Jack), Luanne Schick (Martin); brother Smudgie (Deborah) Rogers. He will be also greatly missed by his extended family members and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Nancy and Marilyn, brother Clifford. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Thursday August 6, 2020 in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel. A private family service will be held on Friday at 2 pm in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
