Obituary of Herbert L Henderson

It is with great sadness we the late family of Herbert L. Henderson announce his sudden passing on July 28, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Westville on Jan. 11, 1932 he was a son of the late Herbert and Ruby (MacNeil) Henderson. Herb was a resident of Westville in younger years and later moved to Stellarton. He started at a young age working in the coalmines and later went to work as a millwright/machinist at I. Matheson Ltd, he was on the first hired at Scott Paper and retired from Kimberley Clark. Herb was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. He was an avid bowler and had bowled a 400 when he was 80 years old. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret (Boudreau), Stellarton; children Marion (Darrell) Coady, Loch Broom; Herbert W. (Cathy) Henderson, Stellarton; Suzanne Gordon, Westville; Stephen Henderson, Stellarton; Roxanne (Ed) Miner, Stellarton; Christopher (Erynn) Henderson, Hamilton, ON; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters Jewel Dorrington, Carol MacNeil and brother Jimmy Henderson all of Westville. He was predeceased by his brother Billy MacNeil and son-in-law Kenny Gordon. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. A face mask will be required for the visitation due to provincial health guidelines. An immediate family funeral mass will be held in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Barrett Clare Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
