Eaton, John “Sonny”- It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of John “Sonny” Eaton, 90 of New Glasgow who passed away Wednesday May 20, 2020 at the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Arthur and Frances(Williamson)Eaton. We lost a wonderful man and a true gentleman, who had a huge heart, full of so much love and care. He loved his family dearly, greatly impacting each and every one of our lives. We are left with great memories. Sonny was born and raised in Stellarton, until he met the love of his life. Nettie, having settled down in New Glasgow. During his working years he was employed at Trenton Works. He proudly served as president of the union local 1231 upon retirement. He had a passion for horses, going to horse shows and exhibitions to watch his granddaughters, among other family members, which brought him great joy. One of his favorite exhibitions was the Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition, where for 35 years he built many great relationships and memories, while working and welcoming everyone coming through the front gate. He is survived by a daughter Cherie(Tim)Parker, Scotsburn; a stepson Alvin(Annette)Jamieson, Trenton; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Nettie(Dort)Jamieson Eaton, brothers; Arthur Eaton, Robert Eaton Sr.; sisters; Elsie Kennedy, Margaret Clyburne, Vera MacDonald, Hilda Thompson and his twin Freda Coady. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial service will be held at a later date in the Christ Anglican Cemetery, Stellarton. The family would like to thank his family Dr. Jazrawi for the many years of care, Dr. Burrill and the wonderful nurses at the Maritime Oddfellows Home for the care given to Sonny while he was a resident. angusfuneralhomes.com
