Obituary of Gladys Louise Lynch

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Louise Lynch age 94. She died peacefully on April 9th at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow. Gladys was born in Stellarton, July 22, 1925. She was predeceased by her devoted husband and best friend of 64 years, John Richard (Dick) Lynch. Together they had four children: Mary Trimper (Russ) of Dartmouth, Ron Lynch (Peggy) of Stellarton, David Lynch of Green Hill and Nadine Guthro (Joe) of Stellarton. Gladys was one of thirteen children born to the late David and Lillian (Osbourne) McLean, both of Stellarton. She is survived by siblings, Agnes Peters (Ralph) of Ontario and Melford MacLean of Stellarton. She was predeceased by sisters, Bertha Somero (Andy), Elizabeth Seymour (Jim), Priscilla, Emiline, Laura, Hazel and Katherine; brothers, Woodie (Marjorie), Edwin (Kaye) and Arthur "Buck" (Lila). Gladys has 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Irving (Chris), Yvonne Dooks (Shawn), Craig Urquhart (Lorianne), Darren Trimper (Jemima), Jason Lynch, Allison Kearley (Trevor), Margo Lynch, Donna Schussler (Vance), Bill Lynch (Deceased), Jilisa Guthro and Luke Guthro (Lindsay). She was also blessed with 19 great grandchildren. Gladys had a beautiful life. She was a homemaker, caregiver and provider to many. She spent many days going “down home” caring for her father and siblings. She was always very proud of her family and each one of them held a special place in her heart including her big dog Jake, who was a great companion. In early years she had many camping adventures with the family and eventually spent her summers at the cottage on Lochaber Lake. She enjoyed family gatherings of any kind with Christmas being her favorite. Saturday nights were spent playing cards with the Taylor’s and Sunday was a time for church, big dinners and drives for Ice Cream with Dick. She was a life-long member of Sharon St. John United Church of Stellarton. Her faith was very strong, and she truly appreciated her visits from the UCW and Rev. Karen Ross. Gladys believed do unto others as you would like them to do to you (Luke 6:31). Gladys' family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Glen Haven Manor for the special care and attention they provided during her stay, and also to the incredible neighbours and extended members of her family who looked in and provided for her while she was at home. Cremation has taken place a Memorial service will be held on Sat ,Sept 19th ,2020 at 11 A.M. from Sharon St. John United Church with Rev. Karen Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gladys, can be made to the Sharon St. John United Church Capital Campaign.
