Obituary of Cheryl MacLean
Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Cheryl Elaine MacLean announce her passing after a brief illness in March 2020 at 68 years of age in Truro, N.S. She was born June 13, 1951, the only child of Wilma (1923-2013) and Bert (1925-2010) MacLean of Stellarton, N.S. When she completed her B.Ed at St. FX she worked for A.P.S.E.A. as an itinerant teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. After her M.Ed in Deaf Education she taught in Amherst until the site closed, then in Halifax and Truro. She enjoyed her students and went above and beyond for them throughout her career. She was devoted to her parents and when she retired, helped Wilma care for Bert and later cared for her mother. Cheryl was a passionate painter and rug hooker. She had a remarkable memory and after Wilma’s passing, in almost weekly phone calls, told far away cousin and dear friend Sheila stories of family that were touching and humorous. Cheryl will be sadly missed by many cousins and friends from work, Janice, Holly and Sally.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held in the summer months. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the H.C. MacQuarrie's Funeral Chapel in Stellarton. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
