Obituary of Gary Harold Higgins

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gary H. Higgins on February 13th, 2020. He passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital at the age of 75, following a rather sudden and brief illness. Gary is survived by Elizabeth, his best friend and partner of 33 years. He was a proud and caring stepfather to Rebecca (Shawn MacKay) and beloved “Papa” to grandsons Nolan, Seamus and Rory, Tantallon. He is also survived by sons David, Dartmouth; Robert and family, New Glasgow; sister Carol (Allan) MacDonald, New Glasgow and brother Greg (Norma), Westville and their families; as well as cousins and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Grace (Gullin) Higgins. Gary had a genuine talent and love for woodworking and for fixing anything mechanical or electrical. He also saw the humor in everyday life! He is described by all who knew him as being a kind person, patient, loving and always willing to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. Above all, he possessed a gentle and giving spirit and the rare quality of serenity. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. We would like to thank Dr. Anne Kwasnik and all of the wonderful nurses on the Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion during his illness. A memorial service will be held for Gary in the spring. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital. Farewell dear friend. We will never forget you xo www.angusfuneralhomes.com
