Jean M. Cameron Passed away on: February 13th, 2020 STELLARTON -Jean M. Cameron, 86, Kensington Ave., Stellarton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, Thursday, February 13, 2020, after a long battle with multiple health issues. Born in Gairloch, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late Isabel and Harold Balfour, Westville. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and good friend to all who knew her. She belonged to Eastern Star Lodge and received her 50-year pin. Also, she was a life member of the United Church Women’s (UCW) group and the Esther Ruth unit. She was honored as the UCW volunteer of the year. She was also honored by the Western Star Masons No. 50 for her outstanding support of lodge activities and fund-raising functions, taking over several from her husband Gordon, upon his passing. She was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, for over 65 years. She was involved and participated on many church committees. She was an avid supporter of church functions, participating and donating much of her time and delicious baking. Surviving are her daughter Violet, Stellarton; son Willard (Shelley) and beloved granddaughter Lana Jean, Halifax; sister, Marg Heighton, Moncton, N.B. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Gordon Cameron, brothers, John and Clarence Balfour. The family would like to thank all the close neighbors and best friends for always helping, supporting, entertaining and performing many small home jobs and weekly tasks for Jean. She appreciated very much the tremendous effort, kindness and friendship. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and an Eastern Star Service at 6:30 Sunday, Feb 16 in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb 17 in Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Karen Ross officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall immediately after the funeral service. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations made to the Sharon St. John United Church, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or charity of your choice would be appreciated. Family flowers only.
