Obituary of Charles Poulain

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Charles (Chuck) Eugene Poulain of Stellarton/Caribou River , 72, at the Aberdeen Hospital on February 9, 2020, with family by his side. Born in Halifax, but raised in Pictou County, he was the son of Charles and the late Gene Poulain. After completing high school, he attended Dalhousie University where he received his pharmacy degree. Chuck was a well known resident of Stellarton. He owned and operated Poulain's Pharmacy in Stellarton for many years and always provided a listening ear and exceptional care to his customers, as well as many a good joke. His customers were truly his friends. He and his wife Colleen enjoyed many road trips in his little car which often included a stop for a picnic lunch or lobster roll. He spent hours perfecting his audio room and "listening" to his favorites - Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and other jazz greats. Chuck had an excellent eye for design and loved to plan on-going home and garden renovations. After retirement, he and Colleen bought a home in Caribou River and have enjoyed life at the shore. Time spent with family was important to him and life changed when he became "Papa". Whether stretched out in a beach chair sharing stories about life with Liam, having a competitive game of chess with Jayden, playing with Nora or taking Zack for a tractor ride, his time with his grandchildren was very special. He is survived by his wife Colleen, sons Chris (Clare), Halifax and Jay (Megan) Stellarton, grandchildren Liam, Jayden, Nora and Zachary. He is also survived by his father Charles Poulain, Plymouth Park, sisters Carol (Brian) Graham, Christchurch, New Zealand, and Lisa (Brian) Ekhardt, Valley and brother Kip (Cathy) Grand Lake, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will take place at from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Friday, February 14 at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, King Street, New Glasgow. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 2 pm at the same location. Family Flowers only.
