Obituary of Ann MacKay

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With courage, dignity and grace, after several months of health challenges, Helen “Ann” MacKay, of Pictou and formerly of Marshville, Pictou County, passed away on February 11, 2020 surrounded by love. An only child, Ann was born April 24, 1934 in Truro, NS to her loving parents Helen Claire Green and Harry Gordon Crowell MacKay. Ann was the last surviving member of her family. Ann received her early education in Truro and then went onto Quebec City for her graduation from high school. She went to Layola, Montreal, Quebec for her under graduate and subsequently received her Chartered Accountant Accreditation. Ann’s career lead her to various points throughout Nova Scotia culminating in twenty-eight rewarding years spent with Bonnyman and Byers Ltd., Tatamagouche, NS. She retired at 76! Ann took great comfort in the rich and interesting relationships she developed over the years. She is survived by her loyal and loving companion Amy, her Yorkie. She is also survived by “Her Boys” Eoin Dewar, Shaun McLean and Luc Ringuette. Ann moved to the town of Pictou three years ago, and was immediately embraced by the genuine kindness of many treasured friends, especially Sharon and Johnnie, Debbie and Gary, Eva and the girls at A Head of Hair and Judith and Lloyd. Ann had a love for animals her entire life. In years gone by, Ann took great pleasure in her involvement in the worlds of dog showing and horse racing showing her Afghan Hounds and owning her own race horse. We would like to thank Dr. Chris Elliott, Dr. Madeline Plourde, and most recently Dr. Colleen O’Sullivan for their kindness and professional care. Also to E.M.S., First Responders, RCMP and the H.W. Angus Funeral Home during our emergency… your work is so important! In honour of Ann, There will be a reception on Sunday, February,16, 2020, 3-5 pm at Shaun’s Place, 135 Provost Street, New Glasgow.
